5 students per professional is the best if you want to give each follower three rounds. More students just means fewer rounds per student. We are limited to 250 heats for the day.

There are lots of hotels in West Des Moines. Here are some with varying price points. Past participants have indicated they are good places to stay. As organizers we have not stayed at any of them.
We do not provide any participants or spectators with food. You are welcome to bring any food you want. We kindly ask you make sure to pick up after yourself and throw all trash away in garbage bins. All drinks need to have a cover or screw top lid. There will be bottled water available for participants.
We have looked into having a food truck come over the lunch hour, but due to the flat fee of having it we will not provide this service. One of our main goals is to keep the price down for everyone, and this means not adding costs like a food truck to entry fees. There are many food establishments close by to get food from. You are welcome to have someone do a food run and bring it back to the gym for you.
Since DMDC is held in a local school gym there are bleachers available for seating. If bleachers are hard on your back feel free to bring a cushion, bleacher buddy, or something soft to sit on.
If you are unable to attend the awards ceremony at the end of the night we will mail it to you or your studio.
Participants will have access to typical school locker rooms for changing. You are welcome to leave your stuff in them, however no one is watching over them. There is also water, band-aids, basic first-aid, safety pins, and bobby pins available for emergencies.
Team Match is meant to be a lighthearted way to meet other people at the event, get in more dancing, and just dance to the music. You will be assigned to a team. At the beginning of the day, just before competition gets started, you will meet your team. This is when you will determine your partner and dance genre you will compete in. Team Match heats are danced at the end of each session. This is completely optional and no additional cost.
Nope; we do not have score cards to give out. We do not do proficiency scores either. We suggest you utilize PCCs or do a showcase for personalized feedback.
This is a PERFECT way to get immediate feedback on your competition dance floor dancing! Immediately after you dance a round (3-4 consecutive heats) you will go off to the side of the gym or in a hallway to receive immediate feedback from one of our judges. You do not get to choose the judge. You may record any or all of this time on your phone. A volunteer will be available to record it for you if needed.
